What is Body Contouring and Body Sculpting?

Body contouring, also known as body sculpting, refers to an array of non-surgical and surgical procedures used to reshape and improve the appearance of the body.  These can range from liposuction to advanced non-invasive contouring technologies like EmSculpt NEO and CoolSculpting. Whether surgical or non-surgical, body contouring can help people achieve the look they desire, boost their confidence, and increase quality of life.

What is Non Surgical Body Sculpting?

Non Surgical body sculpting is a minimally invasive way of destroying fat cells and contouring someone’s figure. During a body sculpting procedure, our providers aim to destroy fat cells, reduce cellulite, build muscle, or a combination of the two. The goal is to contour areas that tend to hold onto fat and resist definition and toning.

These areas tend to be the arms, abdomen, flanks, things, and back, although we can work with almost any area. We love nonsurgical body sculpting because it isn’t invasive like liposuction or surgical lift procedures, meaning less recovery time and strain on the body.

Non-Surgical Body Contouring Solutions

There are several non-surgical body contouring solutions available, whether you want to strengthen your pelvic floor, destroy fat cells, or build muscle tone. While the list below isn’t comprehensive, it covers all of the major players on the market today.

EmSculpt NEO

The EmSculpt NEO uses HIFEM+ (high-intensity focused electromagnetic energy) technology, combining HIFEM+ and radiofrequency(RF) to destroy fat cells and build muscle tone at the same time.

Emsella

Emsella works to tone the pelvic floor, equating to 12,000 kegels in one session. It can help with urinary incontinence, improve sexual health, and alleviate erectile dysfunction.

Emtone

Emtone incorporates radiofrequency and targeted pressure energy to strengthen the bands that the fat pockets come up through, reducing the appearance of cellulite on the skin’s surface. Emtone achieves results with the combined technologies that neither could achieve alone.

Velashape III

This FDA-approved treatment method is used for tightening the abdomen and the thighs. Velashape III combines RF and infrared energy with a light vacuum to trim away fat cells and tighten skin.

Ultrashape Power

Ultrashape Power uses controlled ultrasonic energy delivery to fat cells to shrink fat cells in areas where body fat is at its highest. Whether it’s the love handles, thighs, or the abdomen, this painless procedure delivers astounding results.

Surgical Body Sculpting and Procedures

Surgical body sculpting is considered more permanent than non-surgical body sculpting, but it is certainly more invasive. Like non-surgical body sculpting, it’s not a replacement for weight loss. People may elect to have surgical procedures in order to get results in one go that they wouldn’t get with non-surgical solutions in one treatment, to get permanent solutions, or to more precisely address loose skin. At the end of the day, surgical and non-surgical solutions are both very effective and the choice is highly personal.

There are two common types of surgical procedures.

  • Liposuction. This procedure allows a surgeon to remove fat deposits from a targeted area, reducing the appearance of excess fat.
  • Lifts. This procedure can be done almost anywhere on the body – think body lifts, brazilian butt lifts, tummy tucks, or thigh lifts – and are designed to address sagging skin and produce a firmer appearance.

These two may be combined for optimal results. The one thing that nonsurgical solutions can do that surgical solutions can’t simulate is building a lot of muscle tone in a very short amount of time.

Who’s a Good Candidate for Body Contouring and Body Sculpting?

Good candidates for body contouring are healthy adults who aren’t currently undergoing huge weight loss fluctuations. Additionally, body contouring patients need to be committed to ongoing wellness, including a healthy diet and regular exercise.

It’s important to discuss previous medical history that might make body contouring unsafe for you with your provider and talk about setting realistic treatment goals in short-term and long-term.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will body contouring help me lose weight?

Body contouring and body sculpting procedures will result in you weighing less than you did before as fat cells are being removed. However, body contouring is not a weight loss procedure and it cannot be substituted for a healthy lifestyle.

Are the results natural-looking?

Yes. Aesthetic providers and surgeons give your natural body shape a more defined look. They can’t change your body. The results you get from a body contouring procedure are all-natural and completely you.

Is body contouring painful?

For non-surgical procedures, there may be some discomfort, but it won’t be painful. Surgical procedures will be done under anesthesia and your provider will give you a pain management regimen to follow after your procedure.
